Virtues, Sins and Songs

My infatution for Um Kalthoum (An Arabic Diva Singer from the past century) has always been there, and the wonderful news I got today brought about another mental dialogue that I thought I'd share with you;

For those of you that are familliar with the "Diva" of Arabic Music, you will recollect a song that goes on for an hour or so, about how she stay's up all night reflecting about him.  Her patience is beyond her control, in terms of her dedication to wait for him.  You get the picture....

On the other hand, a cousin who I am very close to, tied the knot this evening to the woman he loved and had been engaged to her for some time.

What's the connection you may ask ?

Let me start by mentioning  I took off my hat for him, as for me one of the ultimate manly qualities is to not waist time if you find someone you love and it's mutual (after a short stint called an engagement)

As I was sampling and turning the words of the Diva in my head, I thought to my self; She's got the mental focus and dedication to place all her energy into this romance.  She gives me pleasure in listening to the song for an hour, where the message is the same yet eloquently expressed in many flavors. She questions herself for being so focused, and but still stays the course. Yes, stays the course.

Now let's jump to the cousin. Here's a hardworking guy, found the woman he wanted to marry, went thru the steps and finally made her his (wife!)

Is there a pragmatism in Romance ? and is the prolonged one, more of a losing proposition ?
I would say the moral of the story for me: Let's make this deal happen and let's fate take its course. There isn't much point to lamenting on waiting for anything (keep it within reason).  You find somebody, and you have mutual feelings, what are you waiting for ?  There's never an optimum situation or time for anything. Let's use the time we have in this life time.

In some of the neigbhorhoods I've frequented in Inner City America, they'd say to him:
"You is da man, as you be movin' and groovin' connecting like AT&T "

Which brings me to a beautiful part of the story of Adam and Eve, that goes well with my thoughts:
(Now this is my translationof how the dialogue went, if I made a mistake, please
 correct me)

Adam looks up and Eve shows on the scene, so he is puzzled and ask her, Why were you created (what are you doing here)?

She answers: "I was created to be by yourside"

Now let's shoot back to January 2006, all I hear around are couples saving for a house, for a car, for the wedding, for graduation, For God knows what...

Then there was my cousin He went for it, he performed what I consider due diligence and went for it.  - plain and simple.

They are now husband and wife....
.....and as for me, I'm happy for them :)

....and the Diva was still singing and questioning why they are still apart.

perhaps it has become so hard to "find love" because we have forgotten that where you plant and nourish the seed, it grows...it doesn't hit you over the head with a dozen roses cause you've been waiting for it.
